When two young children were murdered, and the family dog was sexually assaulted, one mother tried to blame her eldest child for the crime. However, new evidence points to the mother as the perpetrator of the crimes and has resulted in her being charged and appearing in court to face the charges of murdering her two young children. Besides blaming the eldest child in the killing, the mother, Lisa Snyder, claimed that her “suicidal” eight-year-old son was the ringleader in the senseless crimes.

Nevertheless, prosecutors have charged Snyder with killing her eight-year-old son Conner and her four-year-old daughter Brinley at their home in Reading, Pennsylvania. The 37-year-old told authorities that the children had threatened suicide before, and this time must have gone through with it at Conner’s behest.

Investigators said that Snyder revealed that Conner was bullied at school. Because of the bullying, he had wanted to end his life but had not wanted to do it alone, which was why he convinced his four-year-old sister to join him in the act. The pair used the dog leash to hang themselves from the ceiling.

However, police found no evidence to support Snyder’s bizarre story. And on Wednesday a court appearance by a witness at the Berks County Courthouse, it was said that Conner was “incapable of doing this” to his beloved sister and himself.

Instead, it seems that Snyder is to blame in the deaths of her children. A search of her internet history revealed that she was looking up information on “carbon monoxide in a car how long to die.” She also Googled “hanging yourself” and “I almost got away with its best episodes” in the weeks before her children were found hanging from the rafters of her Pennsylvania home.

First responders received a call from Snyder, and they found both children hanging from either end of a dog leash.

Assistant District Attorney Margaret McCallum did not only say the story was improbable but unlikely because Conner, 8, did not have the dexterity to fasten the plastic dog leash into two nooses, let alone get themselves up to the ceiling.

“Conner was incapable of doing this to himself. He was incapable of doing this to his sister,” McCallum said.

The two children died in the hospital when they were finally removed from life support. They died three days after they were discovered hanging from the ceiling in the Pennsylvania home.

In December, the coroner confirmed that both children died by hanging. The deaths were ruled as homicides.

Snyder was arrested and charged with two counts, each of first- and -third-degree murder. A friend of the mother’s said that she planned to kill herself following the arrest if freed on bail.

Snyder has been charged with third-degree murder, tampering with evidence, endangering the welfare of children, animal cruelty, and sexual intercourse with a dog. The charges related to the dog were made after investigators found photos of Snyder having sex with the dog and are unrelated to the murder of her two children.
