In modern America, women are expected to get an education and then build their own careers. Women who choose to be homemakers are now looked down upon as taking the easy way out of life. This was a huge cultural shift for America, which has turned the country on its head over the last half-century. While there are numerous advantages for America to have women in the workforce, some women believe that women should shun a career for the pleasures of being a stay at home mom or a housewife.

According to statistics from 2018, it is now more common than ever before to have women working. Two of every five homes have women as the primary breadwinners, according to research from the Pew Research Center. However, one mommy blogger believes that every working mom is doing the wrong thing because they are neglecting their children when they should be focusing on the home.

The woman, who created the Facebook page The Transformed Wife, created a chart that describes why moms should never work a career and instead focus all their energy on “momming.” This chart comes from a woman who owns and operates an online blogging business. It looks a bit hypocritical.

The mother created a chart that depicts two paths that a mother could take. The chart begins with a choice that says. She can either be “away from home hours every day” or “home all day long” with her children and the housework.

If the mom takes the first path, the mommy blogger said she would leave her “children with others,” “comes home exhausted,” “dinner is usually fast food or microwaves.” She then “reads a book to children before bed” and “weekends” are spent “cleaning the house and shopping.” This mom is also “too tired for intimacy with husband” and “her life is falling apart. She doesn’t feel like she’s a good wife or mother.”

If the woman takes the homemaker path, her “children are with her.” She “rests while her children nap.” “Dinner is from scratch, nutritious, and delicious.” She gets to “read to her children, plays games, disciplines, teaches about Jesus all day long.” Her “weekends (are spent) at the beach or park.” And, best of all, this mother is “intimate with her husband frequently.” In conclusion, this mommy blogger feels that for a mother on this path, “her life is fulfilling. Her husband and children rise up and call her blessed.”

This mother’s view is highly controversial because it flies against the cultural norms of women working hard at a career instead of spending her time inside the house, raising children, and cooking.

Moms who read the post were furious. They cited numerous examples of women who worked and were still great moms to their children and great wives to their husbands.

“The best mom I’ve ever met (my own) worked outside the home. Everyone’s journey is different. Let’s love and support each other instead of pointing out untrue ‘flaws.’ Also, I’m a stay-at-home mom and have been for years. My life has been a mix of those two columns.”
